Chamba

Cultural Significance; Chamba has a heritage that dates back over a thousand years. It was founded by Raja Sahil Varman in the 10th century and has remained relatively untouched by modern urbanization, preserving its old-world charm. The town is most famous for its traditional miniature Pahari paintings, classical music, and handicrafts, particularly the finely embroidered Chamba Rumal (handkerchief), which is a GI-tagged handicraft and an embodiment of Pahari art.
